Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (fed and active)

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1 egg

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

  • For Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  • In a bowl, combine sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg. Stir in 2 cups flour and yeast. Mix until smooth.
  • Add remaining flour and salt, kneading until dough is elastic and smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  • Dust your surface with flour and gently roll out the dough. Spread with softened butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly. Tightly roll and slice into 12 pieces.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool slightly.
  • For icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls.
